What Is Soft Washing?

Soft washing is defined as a low pressure washing method used to safely treat and remove organic matter: mildew, bacteria, algae, fungus, moss, and lichens. It was developed as a safe alternative to standard pressure washing and is a very effective way to clean more delicate materials. Soft washing is best used on siding, roofs, and composite decking.

When a standard pressure washing is done to a home with high pressure it may appear to be cleaning the surface, but is leaving behind small microbial growth that will reappear sooner. The high pressure can also cause significant damage by blowing off pieces of siding or fascia.

The soft washing process is done by spraying nearby plants with fresh water to protect them, applying a biodegradable soap solution to the surface, allowing a dwell time, and rinsing strategically. This process will yield far superior results and leave your home looking clean for longer. When paired with a gutter brightening solution hand scrubbed on to remove black streaking you can be assured that your home will look immaculate.

While it is a very effective method it can also cause damage if done by an inexperienced homeowner or uninsured contractor. The biodegradable soap solution can cause harm to your home or plants if the method is not done in a careful manner. It is generally best to contact a reputable company to handle this type of cleaning.
